2024 Crimson Lacrosse
Thank you to JP Showcase for streaming video for all our home games this season! Subscribe to JP Showcase YouTube Channel and watch the boys in action - LIVE and on repeat!
Practices will normally be scheduled for 6pm-7:30pm at the MGHS Stadium. Players should be ready for warmups at 5:45 so that practice can start right at 6. Practices will sometimes go until 8pm to get extra work in as needed and will be communicated to the players ahead of time.
Tryouts this year will be the first 2 days of practice and will go from 6-8pm both nights. Team formation will be communicated after the second tryout Tuesday night.
Equipment and player apparel distribution will occur before practice Thursday night at the high school cafeteria.
Picture day will occur before the first Saturday practice and the exact time is to be determined.
An additional note about tryouts from Coach Willson:
JV/Varsity tryouts will be open to all ages. It is our standard that if an individual's skill level permits it, a player under high school age can make the Varsity roster. However, we will not reserve a JV roster spot for anyone outside of the high school age.
This is our approach to allowing the best players to play at the highest level, while maintaining a fair standard for a complete High School program. Thise decision will be made by our coaching staff, dependent on a player immediate impact on the program.
Please welcome our new Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Jake Willson! Jake grew up in Maple Grove and is a Class of 2015 graduate. He ended his Crimson career as a captain of our varsity lacrosse team, helping lead the team to its first State Tournament appearance in program history. Jake went on to play four years of D1 lacrosse and graduated from Monmouth University (NJ) in 2019.
Jake’s coaching resume reaches all ages of the sport. He has working with Maple Grove youth, multiple traveling lacrosse programs, 4 years at the varsity level, and was voted as the MN Assistant Coach of the year in 2023. He was recently the Associate Head Coach for the Crimson.
“It is a privilege to be back for another year in Crimson & Gold. As a player turned coach, it has meant a lot to remain a part of this program that my father helped build. It means an even greater deal to be trusted at the helm of it, carrying on that tradition. Thank you all for the continued support along the way!”

Maple Grove High School Lacrosse (MGLAX) registration fee in the amount of $375 is required for all high school players. Additionally, a High School Registration fee of $190 through the district/school is also required, which can be completed through EduTrak beginning on February 1st. Participation in the MGLAX High School program will not be allowed until BOTH the MGLAX registration/fees and the high school registration/fees (through EduTrak) are satisfied. The MGLAX registration fee is paid directly to the Maple Grove Lacrosse Booster, whereas the high school registration fee is required by and paid directly to Maple Grove High School. These two fees and two registrations are necessary to cover the full cost of playing lacrosse at the high school level.
Registration runs from January 16th-February 16th, after February 16th a $50 late fee will be assessed. We have moved our registration earlier this year to allow us to get a better idea of the number of players participating as we look to potentially add a 9/10 team this year. Please register early to allow us to better make plans for the 2025 season.
Registration includes long sleeve shooter shirt, short sleeve shooter shirt, and practice shorts.
